In Murcia there are 7 protected natural areas, good for hours of walking pleasure:
* Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar (located at walking distance from the apartment). The flamingos are present all year and here are also the well known mud baths. Info: click here
* El Valle y Carrascoy. Located between the Mar Menor and Murcia with heights of 200 till 1.000 meters. Be sure to visit the "Santuaria de la Fuensanta". Info: click here
* Sierra Espuña. Very special area with heights from 200 till 1.500 meters. The "Barranco de Gebas" is breathtaking. Info: click here
* Calblanque. Located between the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean Sea, it is a nature reserve with inhospitable heights alternated with long, golden beaches. Info: click here
* Sierra de la Pila. Located in the northwest of Murcia and it is a protected bird area. Info: click here
* Sierra del Carche. Located in the wine regions of Jumilla and Yecla, in the northeast of Murcia. Info: click here
* Calnegre y Cabo Cope. Located in the south of Murcia on the westernmost part of the coast and has 17 km of coastline. Info: click here
